MENY, Skalborg

As part of the Norwegian company, MENY’s acquisition of the Superbest and Eurospar supermarkets in Denmark, they wanted to renovate the former SuperBest in Skalborg.

Dagrofa turned to LITE A/S for advice and guidance for innovative lighting, which would also save energy and be environmentally friendly.

In collaboration with PL Service A/S, who took charge of the actual installation, LITE A/S were responsible for the innovative lighting design and planning.

When lighting food it is crucial for the light to have the right Kelvin degree to emphasise the product’s authentic colour. For example, meat has to be lit with a warm white colour (i.e. a low Kelvin degree), whereas fish has to be lit with a cold white colour (i.e. a high Kelvin degree). All refrigerated display counters in the new MENY are lit by Track Lights from the MEG range in 30W.

The Fruit and Vegetable department is lit by 30W Scoop Downlights. They light the products perfectly, making them look inviting and fresh.

The RA value (colour rendering) is also very important for displaying products at their best. The right colour rendition helps products to look as inviting as possible, so customers want to buy them.

LITE A/S’s innovative lighting design has invested MENY in Skalborg with an ultra modern look. Using LED lighting has resulted in major savings, in both financial and environmental terms. LED lighting is energy efficient and requires minimal maintenance. So MENY is saving substantial money by replacing the original bulbs with LED bulbs, which have a longer service life.

MENY in Skalborg is one of the most visited supermarkets in Aalborg, and the beautiful renovation is attracting even more customers. Customers get the experience of an ultra modern supermarket with lighting that displays products beautifully, and shopping becomes a really positive experience.
