Rødovre Tennis Club
New LED lighting for division and exerciser playersAt the end of September 2021, Rødovre Tennis Club was able to inaugurate a new lighting system on their 3 indoor courts. There was a great desire for a better and more energy-friendly lighting system. The result was a class 2 tennis light, 500 lux, DS/EN 12193, produced in recycled aluminum, with luminaires from PURSO that can be upcycled. The light works perfectly for both width - and elite players in the club.
"Excited to have new luminaires that reduces our climate footprint and also give a better light in the hall," said the board of Rødovre Tennis Club.
Energy saving with LED
Rødovre tennis club had for a long time wanted new lighting for their indoor tennis hall. The tennis hall is equipped with 3 courts and is played at both division and exerciser level.
The tennis hall's existing light fixtures consisted of 28 pcs. luminaires, with 4 pcs. 80W traditional fluorescent tubes. With an investment in LED lighting, the club had the opportunity to optimize energy and even save money.
The existing lighting on 3 lanes had an efficient wattage consumption of 26.9 kWh (kW per hour).
New LED lighting on the same 3 lanes has, for comparison, an efficient wattage consumption of 11.4 kWh.
This gives a total saving of 15.3 kWh or almost 57%.
Lighting that meets requirements and standards
In collaboration with the Municipality of Rødovre and Rødovre Tennis Club, LITE A/S (which is DTF & DGI's construction partner on light) was given the task of dimensioning the new lighting, which was to be a class 2 lighting with 500 Lux.
In addition to optimizing energy, as well as providing a better and more uniform light to the many tennis players at different levels, the task was to use the hall's existing electrical rail installation. This could be solved by using the smart SNEP luminaire in recycled aluminum with QPD connector from Finnish PURSO.
When we calculate and dimension new lighting for tennis halls, it is designed according to the sports lighting standard DS/EN 12393. Requirements and standards have been prepared to ensure the most optimal lighting, in relation to the level of tennis you want to play.
In tennis, a small ball moves at high speed and this places great demands on uniformity and the desire for minimal glare when playing. All too often it is seen that the focus is only on savings and lux, but a good tennis light is so much more. With professional design from LITE, you get the best lighting solution that lives up to your wishes and requirements.
