Utzon Center, Aalborg
Light on a cultural trademark.LITE A/S were contacted to help find the appropriate lighting solution for the roof construction of the Utzon Center. The idea was for the lighting to enhance the very special architecture of the roof construction without diminishing the focus on the architecture.
Inspired by the exciting construction, LITE tackled the job and came up with a solution, which utilises façade lighting in the form of a wall-washer.
Unique architecture requires extraordinary lighting to highlight its details, but without the light taking over. It is important to think about the whole architectural picture. The Utzon Center in Aalborg is a prominent building and a cultural trademark, and the idea is for the building to tell the story. By making use of simple lighting with a maximum effect, we achieved precisely the focus the building’s distinctiveness requires.
The Utzon Center was inaugurated in May 2008. It is a rendezvous on the Aalborg waterfront, where architecture, design and art, exhibitions and conferences, meetings and culinary experiences all have their own special place.
